Libraries Open House

Providing leadership for the Libraries’ Open House since its inception has been central in forming my belief that students must also develop emotional information literacy skills in order to be confident, successful library users.
Since 2001, over 18,000 students and faculty have participated in the Open House. An event centered on new and first-year students, the Open House seeks to remedy incoming students’ fears of using the Libraries through fun, informal interactions with the Libraries’ faculty and staff. The survey data from the Open House indicates that students overwhelmingly feel that the event has helped them learn more about the Libraries' resources, collections and services.
