I am moving all of my Eudora mail over to Gmail. This is pretty cool (and a little bit scary.)
Here's how I'm doing it:
1) Forwarded all of my psulias mail to gmail. (I'm already forwarding my psu.edu mail to psulias)
2)Downloaded GMail loader to assist in moving my mailboxes over, one by one. (Yes, this is going to take a long time, but I think it will be worth it.)
One question I have: --How will it work with all of my attachments?
I'll keep posting my progress and experiences. I was motivated to do this by this account of moving an entire family's online activities over to Google Apps entirely.
I'll be very interested to hear how you like this...I tried it for a week and then went back to the old way...
At present, I just don't like gmail's organizational tools (i.e. labels) and I found I was missing things and there was TOO much in my inbox :)
Additionally, you can't have multiple signatures...not a huge deal.
I'd also forget to change the outgoing email address (admittedly my own fault) and if work email appeared to come from my gmail, they would tend to get filtered out by other people's spam filters.
I'm all for it...just not quite there yet for me. :) Let me know how you like it!
E, not sure why you're not keeping Eudora. I have both (my gmail downloads to Eudora on my desktop computer, which I then add to my external backup drive). Guess with all the publishing I do, it's just caution about losing stuff... and also a bit of "do I really want Google - with the privacy issues, etc. - to control my life?" L
