I bought a Drobo this week to deal with my storage issues. Its like a RAID 5 system in a box but it sets itself up automagically. It is not RAID but something different created by the folks at Drobo. Works with Mac or PC via USB.
All you do is slide in some SATA drives and away you go. If a drive fails or fills up, slide it out and put in a new drive (a bigger one if the old drive is full) and the file system rebuilds itself.
Also, the Drobo powers down into standby mode when you turn off your computer so its not running all the time... There is also an attachment to turn it into a NAS device.
Very cool.
