Last Wednesday we drove to Philadelphia to see our beloved Red Sox take on the Phillies. The Sox won 7-4 even though all the sluggers were out of the lineup. David Ortiz wasn't even in the ballpark, Youk was standing on the top step of the dugout the whole game, and the closest we came to seeing Manny play was when he was stranded in the on-deck circle as a pinch hitter in the ninth.
Our seats were up high but right behind home plate so we had a decent angle and beautiful view of the city in the distance. Whoever stuck up that billboard in the parking lot obviously wasn't taking the view into account though.
Really neat scoreboard setup. This was our first trip to the new stadium and it is niiiiiice! They really thought of everything and I don't think there's a bad seat in the house. Roy was a little upset that I made him leave his Red Sox hat at home (didn't want to be heckled). Turns out I'm pretty sure there were more Sox fans than Phillies fans. Oops. Now we know for next time!

So interestingly enough I've been asked three times in two days where I'm from because they can't quite place my "accent." I feel that I don't really have an accent but maybe my inflection is different than those of you Central Pennsylvania natives. Until now I've also had a hard time telling people where I'm from... but I solved that today. I'm from North Connechusetts Virginsylvania and my messed up "accent" proves it. Spending my first 12 years on the northwestern Connecticut / western Massachusetts border means I'm from the Berkshires. That is not quite as crazy as the Boston accent but it's interesting to go back and actually hear the difference now.
Throw me down to North Carolina for 4 years, then up to Virginia for 2, a summer each living in England and Germany, 2 years in Pittsburgh, 7 in State College... and well... now you understand. You'd be screwed up too if you did it.
So, speaking of my roots in die-hard Red Sox territory, guess who scored tickets to see them play in Philly next week! Bring on the baseball!!!

Cut me a little slack today... I'm just figuring out MT4 and my settings. I'll have everything pretty ASAP.
Well it's about time I started blogging again! After a break of a couple years to get the master's degree out of the way I'm finally at the point of having free time again!
I figure what better way to start the new postings than with some pictures of where I'm sure we'd all rather be... Hawaii!!! Roy and I just returned from visiting our friends there last month and can't wait to go back.
Who wants to go hiking???
Lesson learned... it may be 8am and cloudy but you need to wear sunscreen in Hawaii. Think lobster that evening. Ugh... us Irish people should know better!
And now... in honor of lunch... yummmmmmm...
