Conglomorate Rock, New Zealand

I could not be more pleased with my educational direction at Penn State.  A degree in geography was an effortless choice, as it melds my love of history and the natural world.

A degree in Geography has allowed me to express my interests in multiple disciplines: Human geography, Physical geography and GIScience.  A listing of my courses and projects (below), illustrates this balanced exploration.

By examining characteristics from each discipline, I have discovered topics to pursue in graduate school; namely my interest in Nature/Society issues with regards to environmental history, land use change and water resources, and sustainable agriculture.

I have found GIS to be an exciting analytical tool with many practical applications for conservation and environmental issues, thus incorporating a GIS minor into my Penn State education has been a key component to a well-rounded geographic education.
