Dheepak Ramaswamy

I am a second year graduate student in the Dept. of Electrical Engineering at The Pennsylvania State University (Penn State). I am a Research Assistant in the College of Information Sciences and Technology and a member of the Socio-Technical Systems Laboratory. My research interests include Collaborative Information Sharing, Filtering and Management and I am currently advised by Dr. Jim Jansen and Dr. Madhu Reddy.

I am currently working on "AchieveTogether.com" and its Drupal version , a website that is being developed along with researchers from the Hershey Medical School. It will incorporate features of Collaborative Information Sharing and Collaborative Filtering.

Privacy and Access Control in Social Networks is another area that I am interested in. I created "Private Box" , an integrated Facebook application that provides security mechanisms for protection and monitoring of users' profiles in a light-weight fashion for Dr. Anna Squicciarini.

I did my summer 2008 internship at ViaSat Inc. , one of the fastest growing, highly innovative companies in Carlsbad, California. I was a software development intern with the Arclight Mobile Broadband Satellite Network team.

I also worked recently with iLink Sytems Inc. , based in Redmond, WA as a design and development intern. As a part of my project, I was involved in creating a Web 2.0 application for Geoffrey Sidari, an entrepreneur from Seattle. I designed and developed Fanplus and its test version Fanpage++. I also helped in the design and development of the Drupal front-end, bMingle for customer administration. It was a very exciting time for me as I was involved in some serious mashup of the latest technologies from Twitter, Facebook, Google, Filtrbox and other Web 2.0 APIs.
