Dr. Bowers is currently an Associate Professor of Psychology at Penn State Harrisburg. He received his Ph.D. from Virginia Tech in 1984, and a Master of Arts degree from University of British Columbia. His undergraduate psychology degree is from the University of Washington.

Currently, Dr. Bowers is a faculty member in the master's degree graduate psychology program in the Applied Clinical Psychology. Other graduate programs in the Penn State Harrisburg Psychology program also includes the Applied Psychological Research track, for individuals who wish to develop their research skills and then pursue Ph.D. programs. In addition, there is an undergraduate program granting a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology at Penn State Harrisburg.
