The overall
research objective of the Exercise Psychology Laboratory (EPL)
at The Pennsylvania State University is to understand the psychological
determinants of exercise motivation among women and children in
an effort to develop effective behavioral interventions for exercise
promotion and adherence. Current research topics under investigation
in the EPL include: psychological determinants of exercise among
pregnant and postpartum women and children, objective monitoring
of physical activity during pregnancy, exercise beliefs among pregnant
and postpartum women with gestational diabetes, and application
of cognitive-behavioral principles within the context of lifestyle
interventions.
