Clicker Usage Stats

After getting the latest clicker class data from the bookstore, I crunched the numbers and came up with some interesting figures:

In Fall 2008, at UP, there were 26 clicker classes, with a combined total of 114 sections, and 7,326 students enrolled in those classes. That's 20% of the undergraduates at University Park having used clickers in a class last semester.

For Spring 2009, also at UP, there are 33 clicker classes, with a combined total of 95 sections, and 8,111 students enrolled in those classes. So this semester at University Park, 22% of the undergraduates will be using clickers in at least one class.

I don't have solid figures from the 07-08 school year, but we estimated around 5,000 students having used clickers in each semester. Based on that estimate, clicker adoption by instructors has grown at least 50% since the last academic year.

Considering that we're just starting the fourth semester since standardizing on a clicker system, I'm really pleased at that adoption rate.
