          Welcome to my Virtual Blog!  I am a junior at Penn State, majoring in elementary education.  The fall semester has just begun and the newest laptop initiative, EDUCATE, has been implemented within the education classrooms.  Faculty and students have been equipped with the digital technology of today, to enhance the learning of students tomorrow. 

I am very excited that I have the opportunity to be part of the first year of EDUCATE.  This blog is meant to facilitate communication about the program.  I will be sharing my attitudes, feelings, and thoughts about EDUCATE.  So far, I believe that the program will have a significant impact upon my last few semesters of teaching preparation.  All of my classes in the Arts and Literacy Block have built components of the digital toolset into their curriculum.  I will be utilizing the iLife suite of applications on the MacBook.  These include iphoto, iMovie, iWeb, GarageBand, and Comic Life, to name a few.

I want to be the most prepared for teaching in the 21st Century classroom, and EDUCATE is a program where I have the ability to ensure my readiness.  As with all technology, the problems and mishaps are unforeseeable in the future; however, I will work on the challenges with my peers and faculty, to ensure the best digital learning environment for all.
