| ¡Bienvenido(a) a Welcome to ¡Palabra Mania!!
The idea behind ¡Palabra
Mania!
is to give High School and University Students (both beginning and more
advanced students, including AP students) around the country a chance to
learn new vocabulary that they have not necessarily learned from their
textbooks, and to have fun and be creative while doing it!!
Here's how ¡Palabra
Mania! will work:
-
On the first of every month,
I will put a word that may or may not be familiar to you. Sometimes
the words may have more than one meaning; that's okay...choose the meaning
that you want to use and the one that will allow you to be the most creative;
-
Take the word for that month
and write the most creative sentence that you possibly can. Be as
accurate as you can in your grammar, but the idea is that it is your
own sentence. The sentence can be as short or as long as
you want to make it, but remember only
one
sentence;
the more vivid the description, the more likely
it is to be pleasing to the readers;
-
When you
have written your sentence, click here,
fill out the form and submit it to me;
-
On the
fifteenth of every month, at 5:00 p.m. ET, submissions will be closed;
-
On the
sixteenth of the month, all sentences that were submitted for consideration
will be placed on a "ballot",
broken down into two groups (high school and University) and voting for
the most creative sentence in each group will take place. Only one
ballot per person please!
-
On the
29th of every month, at 5:00 p.m. ET, voting will close;
-
On the
last day of the month, the winners will be notified and will be announced.
A brief write up about the winners will be featured.
The winners
of ¡Palabra Mania! every month will win prizes ranging from stickers,
pencils, "surprise bags", posters, books, CDs, games, etc.
