Welcome to the web pages for Spanish courses at The Pennsylvania State
University. Spanish language courses at Penn State DuBois use the
newest state-of-the-art language learning techniques, including an
electronic workbook, VLogging, Blogging, a Virtual Learning
Environment, and a communicative, context-based method in the
classroom. Students in Spanish 001, 002, and 003 are also
involving in promoting cultural awareness through the Spanish Cultural
Activities which they create and share with the community (both in
English and in Spanish), as well as participating in the Spanish
Language Table, World Cultures Club, and Spanish Film Series.
In addition to offering Basic Language Spanish courses and Culture and
Civilization courses, the Spanish Department also sponsors a number of
cultural activities for the campus and community. These
activities include:
- Cultural Themed
Dinners (open to the community);
- Cultural
Presentations (some are open to the community, others are for the
campus);
- Spanish Language
Table (open to the campus);
- Day of the Dead
Celebrations (open to the community);
- Hispanic Heritage
Month Activities (some are open to the community, others are for the
campus);
- Foreign Language Week
Activities (some are open to the community, others are for the campus);
- Cinco de mayo
Activities (open to the campus and invited schools); and
- International Travel
(open to the campus)
Becoming more diverse and understanding other cultures is a key
component to the program at Penn State DuBois and one in which I
believe is important for all. To help in this effort, I have
created a "Portal of Copyright-Free Information for Educators and Their
Students". I ask that if an educator or student at any level is
interested in using an image that you send me a message saying that you
are using it. Please do not post my collection of
images on your websites. You are welcome to link to it and you
are welcome to use some images on your non-commercial web sites, but
please do give me credit somewhere.
Below are links to different sections of this web site. Please
enjoy and if you should have any questions, please do not hesitate to
contact me.
Best to all,
