Workshop 7: Radiation Between Concentric Cylinders

Follow the procedure for Workshop 7: steady-state heat transfer - radiation with the radiosity solver.

RESUME the ANSYS-supplied database: smrad.db

APPLY LOADS (according to these instructions):

on the OUTER Faces of the INNER Cylinder: emissivity = 0.4, enclosure 1
on the INNER Faces of the INNER Cylinder: Temperature on Areas = 200
on the INNER Faces of the OUTER Cylinder: emissivity = 0.7, enclosure 1
on the OUTER Faces of the OUTER Cylinder: Temperature on Areas = 80
SOLVE the nonlinear radiation model, with absolute temperatures, gradual loading (4 substeps, max. of 2000, min. of 2, ramped loading).

Turn in:

model geometry plot(s) showing ALL thermal loads and boundary conditions
a results contour plot of the temperature on the model for both rings
select just the INNER cylinder, plot temperature contours and check total reaction heat flow
select just the OUTER cylinder, plot temperature contours and check total reaction heat flow
determine the heat lost to the surroundings (SPCTEMP)
Include the annotated log file, showing the loading and solution.
