Welcome to my professional website. I am an associate professor of English
in the Division
of Arts and Humanities at
Penn State Altoona.
I earned my PhD and MA degrees in Rhetoric and Technical Communication
from the Department
of Humanities at Michigan Technological University. Before then, I
graduated from the College of St. Benedict in St. Joseph, Minnesota
with a major in English and a minor in secondary education.
my work
I teach a range of writing and rhetoric courses for the English
major,
including English Language Analysis, Advanced Composition, The Editorial
Process,
Problems of Style, and Issues in Rhetoric and Composition.
In addition, I regularly teach Advanced Business Writing, Technical
Writing, and First-year Rhetoric and Composition.
The range of my research, teaching, and service in the areas of rhetoric,
composition, and professional communication has, at its core, focused
on examining systems of higher education at public universities. In
past and ongoing projects, I continue to combine composition theory,
cultural theory, and critical pedagogy to explore issues in writing program
administration, whether it be writing centers, college-level
teacher training, curriculum development, or issues of teaching with
technology in undergraduate English classrooms.
I am active in CPTSC, ATTW, WPA, and CCCC, and I serve on the editorial
boards of Computers and Composition and WPA: Writing Program Administration.
