I, Robot

I have been quiet for awhile unless you follow me on Twitter. 140 characters feels more immediate with my usual You Tube embed posts , but I miss the blog itself. I have several ideas for posts brewing. So first up will be robots to end the blogger's block.

Humanoid RobotThis week has been all robots for me. My wife refused to authorize $900 for the purchase of this Robogames worthy humanoid robot. I saw the how-to kit for this programmable, kung fu practicing robot on last week's episode of Systm. Programming my own robot would be fun. I failed even at the good activity to do with the kids argument. So what can I do?

Ooh, I know, I will try to talk work into experimenting with robots as they relate to Video Conferencing over IP technology. Yesterday, on Mahalo Daily Lon Harris visited RoboDynamics to see the Telepresence Robot that can allow telecommuting workers to still chat at the water cooler. I can't justify one per employee, but think of signing out the departmental robot for the day when you just have to work at home. I think Oracle Calendar needs a new type of resource.

Now everyone go out and swear loyalty to our new robot overlords as they begin by making things easier for us. As Brigadier Alastair Lethbridge-Stewart once said, "You know, just once I'd like to meet an alien menace that wasn't immune to bullets."

Lego robot is less salty, and works great for both li'l kids and big kids. My kid's uncle bought them one so I get to play too (when the kids let me :-).
Robot dreams effectively crushed by the promise of saving for Disneyworld. Nobody can program a robot the way Mom can program the kids. Sorry, Love.
