            <title>Final Assignment</title>
            <description><![CDATA[Hard to believe, but it is time to share the final assignment for the semester.  This is a two part assignment ... the first is to be completed on an individual basis while the second will be completed in your teams.  This week we'll give you over half the class to work with your teams, so come prepared with any questions you may have.  Also, it is important that you get close to completing the first part prior to class Thursday.<div><br /></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-weight: bold;">Individual Assignment (Part 1)</span></div><div><br /></div><div>You will make three separate blog posts that are designed to be a synthesis your own work from the past semester.  We'd like you to draw upon your own posts and synthesize your thoughts around our three themes -- community, identity, and design.  Each post will be about one of the themes.  Please take time to link to your own posts and to draw upon the work of your classmates that may have influenced you over the course of the semester.  When you do draw upon any examples please take the time to link to the originating content.</div><div><br /></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-weight: bold;">Team Assignment (Part 2)</span></div><div><br /></div><div>As a team, you will be asked to create a single wiki page that will provide a meta synthesis of the 5 core technologies the teams covered in class:</div><div><br /></div><div><ul><li>podcasting</li><li>wikis</li><li>youtube</li><li>facebook</li><li>twitter</li></ul></div><div>We'd like you to discuss the 5 core technologies in terms of the of the affordances they provide and their relation to the three themes of the course.  We'd like you to draw upon your individual responses from the first assignment as well as from other external sources.</div><div><br /></div><div>We've created <a href="http://ets.tlt.psu.edu/wiki/Disruptive_Technologies_Synthesis">wiki pages for each team</a> that you will use to create your final team synthesis.  We will ask you to discuss these in class the last week.</div>]]></description>

            <title>Reading Assignment for 04.10.08</title>
            <description><![CDATA[The rest of the Wenger book has been posted to ANGEL.&nbsp; Please read 173 - 221 for next week.&nbsp; That rounds out Part II on Identity.&nbsp; That also means that we should take up identity next week in a pretty serious way and also that you should focus your blog posts on that same concept.&nbsp; The last section is on Design.&nbsp; Feel free to dig into it if you have reading time, but you will need to finish up the rest of the book in the next couple weeks either way.&nbsp; Have a good weekend and I will see you on Thursday. ]]></description>

            <title>Reading Assignment for 03.06.08</title>
            <description><![CDATA[Just in time for our visit from the master of serious games, we get to the chapters in Wenger where he starts to talk about identity.&nbsp; So we have been in the community space almost exclusively so far.&nbsp; A few people (Becci you know who you are) have dropped the I word into the mix, but we have really not gone after it.&nbsp; So, here are Wenger's thoughts.&nbsp; There are lots of ways to think about identity, so don't get tied down to this one, just try to evaluate it.&nbsp; Some questions to think about (really whenever you are examining an explanation of identity): Who defines it? How is it constructed? Where does it reside? What is its relationship to the community / context?<br /><br /><br /> ]]></description>
