Admissions Decisions Set for Week of February 18

The faculty is well into the process by which we will make final admissions decisions.  We expect to be able to offer admission to a group of students during the course of the week of February 18.

As in past years, we will have a short waiting list of excellent, qualified students to whom we are not at present able to make an offer of admission.  We will be in direct contact with those of you to whom we make an offer and with those of you on the waiting list.

With so many excellent applications, the process has been difficult, but enjoyable.  We look forward to talking to and meeting many of you in the near future.

Any news on how many students are expected to be admitted or how many applications were received?

Thanks for the comment Josh. We expect to admit five students for the fall of 2008.

Have all the admission decisions been made and those on the wait list called?

Yes, Karen, admission decisions have been made and students on the waiting list have been contacted. I wanted to wait to post that until those who were not accepted received an official letter. I thought that would be better than reading it on a blog. But, since you asked, I thought I would say online too. Letters to those who were not accepted went out last Thursday.

For curiosities sake... can i repeat Josh's question and ask how many applicants applied?

Andrew:

You are pressing me to answer something I didn't want to give specifics on as the precise number of applications is not something we publish.

(I was hoping that no one would notice that I only responded to one side of the disjunction in Josh's question!)

However, in the spirit the sort of openness the blog format inspires, I will say that we usually accept between 3 and 5 % of the applications we receive.

Thanks for your openness.

I'm wondering if this would be the appropriate place to ask for updates on the status of the offers which have been extended (i.e., if some offers have been accepted and others declined etc.) for the benefit of those of us on the waitlist.
