When this card is activated, you cannot summon
any monster in the same turn (including Flip
Summon and Special Summon). Place 4 "Sheep
Tokens" (Beast-Type/EARTH/1 Star/ATK 0/DEF 0) in
Defense Position on your side of the field. The
tokens cannot be used as a Tribute for a Tribute
Summon.

For our first week in August, we decided to review an old
favorite, and one of the best spell cards currently out, Scapegoat!
This card and I have a big history... Before the duelist king
preliminaries, Scapegoat and Graceful Charity both came out.
I only have enough money for one starter, and I chose the Joey
deck just for this card, and it saved me in the finals of the
tournament. My opponenet summoned Jinzo, and was awestruck when
I blocked its attack with some goat tokens ^_^ and I ended up
winning that tournament, and the champion ship :D
So anyway, this card is amazing and works on so many levels.
Last format, this card was used in what was affectionatly called
"goat control" where 2-3 of them were run, and the resulting
goats were morphed into thousand eyes restrict. This is basicly
a -1, but you get 4 token 0/0 to protect you. It works a lot
like waboku, but is superior in many cases. Now that its one
per deck, most duelits give deck space to this guy.
So the goats can't be tributed, and you can't summon the same
turn, and they are extremely weak and vulnerable to trample
like spear dragon and exarion? So what! You are getting
4 chump blockers, that are useful in other ways. For example,
you can fire them off with cannon soldier for 2000 damage, or
you can equip a monster with united we stand, and gain +3600.
Not to mention you can still set something like magician of
faith the same turn you use this card. First and foremost
though, it can be chained to mobius and Jinzo on your opponents
turn if set, making this the formost best defense against
either.
I got this card and put it in my deck as soon as it came out,
and it has not leaved my deck since, only when it was restricted
to one did I take one out :) Goat control is gone, but this
card is still amazing, it has many many more combos ( I am sure
the other reviewers will hit on them) that I am not going to get
into, but I consider this card a Magic Staple and don't build
decks without one. If you are not trying one, do so now, you
will not be displeased!

This week we take a look at a nice spell card from my favorite
yugioh character...Joey Wheeler.
This card could be a much needed life-saver within many different
situations. First off, let's take a look at the card itself.
With the activation of just this one card, you gain 4 monster
tokens on your field for protection. Not only is this a nice
aspect, but the fact that you can activate this card on your
opponent's turn gives it even more potential. That's right...
Scapegoat is a quickplay spell. Therefore, play this as a
stall on your turns until you can get your hand ready for a
real battle, or use it during the opponent's turn when you're
being swarmed. Also, all the tokens automatically hit the
field in defense position.
There are a few downfalls to this card, however. All 4 of the
tokens have 0 attack and 0 defense. This of course is bad news
if you know your opponents uses trample monsters, such as
Exarion and Spear Dragon. Also, these tokens cannot be sacrificed
for a tribute summon. So, although you have a line of defenses
on your field, you'll need to get an actual monster on your
field for a tribute. Although these tokens can't be sacrificed
for tribute summon(s), they can serve a purpose in other ways.
Yep, it's onto the combos now...
This card once held tremendous potential before they decided to
limit this card to one. What made this card so famous, was it's
nice combo with Metamorphosis and Thousand-Eyes Restrict.
'Goat Control', as it was called, was a deck type seen all over
the place during its time. Play scapegoat, then metamorphosis,
and out pops Thousand-Eyes Restrict. However, all good things
eventually come to an end. This decktype lost potential once
Scapegoat AND Metamorphosis hit the limited list.
Even though that combo diminished in its use, players have found
other ways to take advantage of the small goats on there field.
Switch a goat token into attack mode........WHAT!?..........put
a monster with 0 attack in attack mode? The opponent would soon
realize that an attack position goat in combo with Creature Swap
means bad luck for them. You gain a monster from the opponent
while they get the measly atk position goat.
Notice the tokens are beast-type. This gives another combo to
its list. Big March of the Animals grants all beast type monsters
on the field an attack point bonus of 200 times the number of
beasts on the field. It's not much...4 800atk monsters until
the end of the turn only gives 3200. However, Big march of the
animals is also a quickplay. This combo might really get your
opponent confused. Switching all your goats to atk mode with
the opponent's field clear, then using Big March.
So as an overview:
Pros:
* gain a nice defensive wall of 4 monster tokens for the price of 1 card.
* all tokens hit field in defense position
* Quickplay spell
* Metamorphosis combos
* Creature swap combos
* much combo potential (other than tributing for monsters)
Cons:
* 0atk/0def
* cannot be tributed for tribute summon

so we have a quickplay magic card. thus usable during your
opponent's turn. it gets you 4 monsters....but you can't
tribute them. we shall look at these fuzzy little critters
in possible ways they can be used
1) the most important way this card is used, is to block
attacks. it can usually hold a person off for 2-3 turns
while you get what you need. The fun thing is that jinzo
and royal decree can't stop it so you can say to your
opponent "OH NO NOT JINZO I ONLY HAVE 200 LPS!!! hehe
scapegoat!" however...some things can't stop the stall...asura
priest and lightning vortex. those are commonly used...
(not neccessarily good *looks at hellfighter*)
2) tributes! and no not for a tribute summon as that's
illegal...but for certain cards. hmmmmmmm...hand of nepyths
anyone? it's also comboable with spiritual earth art. switch a
scape goat for a lost momanga, injection fairly lily, and
goblin attack force, maruading captain, etc etc. however,
since you can't summon by any means on the turn you activate
the card...besure to activate the turn before you'll want
to use it.
3) and everybodie's favorite combo! cybernetic magician. granted
it costs a card...but if it's a direct attack it's worth it in
certain situations.
4) and of course...for finishing off a game....GAIA POWER
yeah that's right, those little furballs will have a grand
total of 500 attack!!! where the hell did i get this idea from?
lets go kiddies to hog's story corner!
my friend was dueling his little brother and had activated
scapegoat. his little brother had 2 spirit reapers in attack
and a blade knight. and he attacked the 3 scapegoats saying
"i'll attack 3 and leave the pink goat!" he had 200 lps...
my friend had 2250. draw and he gets gaia power, and you
know the rest
be careful with this card, if you chain to mst or something
during your opponent's turn and you have tomato or rat or
something, you won't be able to use the effect. however,
great card

Here we have one of the most helpful Spell cards in Yu-Gi-Oh,
in both anime and real play. A quick play Spell card that gets
you 4 tokens with 1 star, 0 ATK and 0 DEF. What can be so
helpful about this? Let's talk about it.
Summoning 4 monsters to defend your life points can be very
helpful. Just one card defending you 4 times over, that alone
should make it a staple. However theres more, in both pro and
con catagories. In the turn this card is played, you cannot
Normal, Flip or Special summon any other monster. So why not
play this card on your opponent's turn then? Well, that means
no Call of the Haunted or battle searchers - their effects
are nullified. Many a person has not only forgotten these
rules, but have made dozens of illegal plays because of it.
Be wary of the turn you play it, so that it doesn't conflict
with your strategy. Not only this, but it cannot be sacrificed
for a tribute summon - and with so many tokens invading your
field, you could be left with a hand full of unusable monarchs.
One last warning - be careful of not running into tramplers -
a Spear Dragon charging at a Sheep Token is the equivalent
of a direct attack!
Let's move to the Pro's section. Sheep tokens are 1 star,
making them the perfect Metamorphosis fodder. They can't be
sacrificed though...however there's a loophole. Sheep tokens
can't be sacrificed for "Tribute Summons"...however they can
be offered for other purposes, like for Metamorphosis. So
play away. Another good combination is switching a Sheep
token into attack position, and using Creature Swap, giving
them the goat token, and giving them the direct attack parallel.
Sheep Tokens even mix well with Enemy Controller, Cannon Soldier,
Manticore of Darkness, even Shien's Spy!
This ends our review of our furry little friends, and as my
final statement, I urge you, give these pets a home in your
deck!
