Thats right, were back! Now... I guess you guys came to see a review eh?
This weeks card is a very interesting trap card known as Deck Devestation Virus.
It's kind of like the Crush Card's (which we all wish would come out already)
annoying little brother.
This is actually a very useful card, provided it's put into the right deck.
I don't think this should be commonly splashed, as their really are no
standard dark types with 2000 atk or more. However, when played in a deck
based around it, lots of posibilities open up. For example, old favorites
like Dark Elf and Zombrya the Dark become quite vaiable.
To clear up any confusion, when this card activates succesfully, your
opponent views your entire hand, then you discard the cards with an
attack of 1500 or less. Then, he looks at all monsters on your field
(yes including face down) and those with less then 1500 are sent to the
graveyard, while those that have above 1500 are replaced (face down if
they were face down). Finally, for your next 3 turns, you show your opponent
what you draw, he/she is entitled to see, and if it is a monster that
has less then 1500, to the graveyard it goes.
In this meta, many many weak monsters with very useful effects are
played, just to name a few; D.D Warrior Lady, treeborn frog, magician
of faith, spirit reaper, exiled force, night assailant, apprentice magician,
don zaloog, mystic tomator, twin headed behemoth, kuribo. I know first
hand from playing against this, that it can be quite dangerous. I lost 2
cards from hand, and my next 3 draws were spirit reaper, magician of faith,
and exiled force...
However, you could just as eailly have no cards in hand that meet the conditions,
have 2 cyber dragons on the field, and draw spell/trap/high atk monsters
for the next 3 turns....So it's kind of hit or miss...The odd's of not
losing any monsters is pretty slim unless you are running a full
powered beatdown though...
Also, just as a side note, this card rips gravekeeper decks to shreds
and if you are running Exodia against this, you are in trouble

Finally back on track I guess. This week (after how many??? =P) we take
a look at a fairly old, fairly new trap from Flaming Eternity…best
known as Deck Devastation Virus. This card works best with one attribute…the
darkness.
Play against a deck based on dark monsters and this card may make an
appearance. If you tribute one dark monster with an attack of 2000 or
more from your field, during your opponent’s next 3 turns (and the
turn this trap is activated), they can say ‘bye-bye’ to Magician of
Faith, Spirit Reaper, or any monster with 1500 or less attack points.
Many dark attribute monsters (such as Vampire Lord, Don Zaloog, Kycoo,
etc) have amazing effects if they can hit your opponent’s life points,
and with this trap, you won’t have trouble with those annoying
reapers and other little annoyances.
This card may possibly see more play once the sought-out Crush Card
reveals itself. Activate both of these and your opponent is pretty
much helpless. Monsters with 1500 or less OR more all hit the
tombstone.

Deck Devastation Virus: Tribute 1 DARK monster with an ATK of 2000
points or more on your side of the field. Check all monsters on
your opponent's side of the field, your opponent's hand, and all
cards he/she draws during your opponent's next 3 turns, and
destroy all monsters with an ATK of 1500 or less.
Hmm.... it looks like this is a pretty decent card. By tributing
a single strong DARK monster, you can weed out a good number
of annoying weak monsters for a few turns.
I'll list a few pros and cons.
+ gets rid of annoying weaklings for a few turns (ex: Man-Eater Bug, Spirit Reaper, etc.)
+ you can tribute a face-down DARK monster with 2000 ATK for this card
+ monsters with ? for an ATK are treated as if their ATK was 0 while in the
hand or is face-down for this card's effect so they're destroyed as well
+ this allows you to look at face-down monsters as well
- the opponent's Night Assailant will be activated
- a returned Sinister Serpent will stay in the hand because it wasn't drawn (Trad)
- a D. D. Warrior Lady brought back by Premature Burial will not be destroyed
- the opponent can still win using Exodia by returning the four normal limbs
via 2 "Backup Soldier" and then drawing the head as the head will activate
before the trap does
- Magical Scientist can be grabbed with Change of Heart and activated
successfully while the trap is still 'active' (Trad)
wow, look at that list! anyway, while this card may seem like
it's good, it really isn't that great.

Deck Devastation Virus...the sister of Crush Card. And a very powerful one
indeed...offer one Dark monster with 2000 ATK or more to destroy every
monster with 1500 ATK or less. Some people seem to think it's not worth
it, that the cost is too great, or that the effect is just not good enough,
and has too many loopholes. Well, watch me prove them wrong.
Let's look at the pros, starting with the cost. Zombyra the Dark is
the perfect choice for this, it's Dark, 2100 ATK, no summoning cost,
and searchable by RoTA. Dark world monsters, like Goldd and Sillva, are
also great picks. Blowback Dragon is good if you're running machines.
Giant Orc, the 2200 ATK Goblin Attack Force, is also usable. Thousand
Eyes Restrict (when equipped with a strong monster), Ryu Senshi, Fiend
Skull Dragon, Dark Balter the Terrible, even Dark Magician fit this
category too. Is the cost worth it? You tell me. If you could eliminate
one monster on your field to see your opponent's hand, discard all
monsters with 1500 ATK or less when 75% of all playable monsters
are less than 1500 ATK, destroy all monsters with 1500 ATK or less
on your opponent's field, see your opponent's face down monsters,
see what your opponent draws for the next three turns and immediately
destroy them if they're weak enough monsters...would you do it?
Now for the loophole. The hand / field destruction only happens upon
activation, so your opponent can always revive the monsters that were
destroyed. However I don't see how using Premature Burial on a Magician
of Faith or Spirit Reaper is a good idea.
Overall Deck Devastation is a card that hasn't been given a real
fighting chance. Build a new kind of deck around it and experiment.
Make a Warrior/Deck Devastation, or throw a few copies into your
Dark World deck. I know I'm going to - right now!
Advanced - 4/5, Many weak mosnters are played in Advanced.
Traditional - 3.5/5, Less weak monsters are played, but Chaos
Sorcerer is now available as fodder.

Back from the review team is HellFighter! Sorry I couldn’t do
tyrant dragon but hope this makes up for it. Deck Destruction
Virus is a trap card that can destroy every 1500 mon or lower
in your opponents hand or field for 3 turns. How awesome is
that? The down side is that you will need to sac a dark type
mon with 2000 attack or over.
The good thing is that this card can save in a duel. It can
take out your opponents DD warrior lady, exiled Force, Any df
mon because they have weak attack, man eaters, old vintages,
sangan, black forest witch, yata, Spirit reaper and any searcher.
Plus this card can lead to a deck out and had disadvantage
towards your opponent. This is alo perfect to destroy any
exodia strategy your opponent has.
The downsides are that it needs a 2000 attack mon or over.
You could just sac an giant orc after it attacks since it
will be in df anyway. Or you could power up a Sangan or
forest so you can destroy your opponents monsters while you
just get out your own. Also many more people are using more
1500’s now due to their effects like Don Zooloog, wild heart,
mystic tomato, reaper, cyber stein, relinquished, TER, Magician
of faith, needle worm, Amphibious burgoth, great maju
garzeet, and many others.
This card can ruin so many strategies its not funny. Also
don’t be afriaid to use this card. Only a few people are
running beat downs and most likely only a cyber dragon
can get past DDV in their decks. For ex most people deck
like donzollangs and summon Cyber Dragon but DDV can
eliminate all the dons. Use this with Needle Worm and
Delinquent Duo, Confiscation, Spirit reaper and Don to
deplete your opponents hand. Then play Timeeater so
your opponent has to skip his mainphase and cant
play cards!
Advanced: 3/5
Useful against Exodia, Burn, bad in decks that
want to get cards in grave (For EX: Exchange of spirit decks,
CC decks, DW Decks,) But this card can destroy many
strageties against spirit mons like tsyonomi and others.
Trad: 2.5/5
Many people in trad deck strong mons and have more trap
protection and want mons to go into graves to get out their
Choas Empoeor dragon or BLS-Envoy.
