Conclusions

After dissecting the original Spongebob toothbrush, we discovered several weaknesses. Since our targeted consumers are children ages three and up, we made several adjustments. The new design is more similar to a manual toothbrush in regard to its width. By placing the batteries vertically on top of one another, and with the addition of the rubber grip the product is much easier for children to hold. Instead of using two separate, unlabeled buttons for the on/off switch, we redesigned it into one large button, which makes the product less confusing. The different sized bristles enhanced by rotation and vibration significantly clean the consumer’s sensitive gums and teeth. The added effect of the tongue cleaner will teach children how to clean their entire mouth. This comes as a bonus, since most products that accomplish this task are sold separately.

The addition of the two minute melody may only seem appealing to the child, but it is actually a timer indicating how long for the child to brush their teeth. The appearance of our product is solely based on its’ appeal to children. With bright colors and Spongebob on the product, it is sure to catch the eyes of many. The goal of our new design was to create a reusable product that would give professional results at a low price. Parents will love how this product takes the idea of a clean mouth to whole a new level, and children will love using it.
