My work at CAPS (Counseling and Psychological Services at Penn State University) focuses on the intersection of research, technology, and psychology.
Counseling Psychology: The process of growth,
connection, healing, and change that occurs within a therapeutic relationship is a deeply held passion of mine. Prior to my current work, I grew personally and professionally through work experiences including
wilderness therapy, group homes for children, psychiatric hospitals in Boston, community mental health care in Boston (MGH
Charlestown HealthCare Center), and the University of New Hampshire Counseling Center. Research and
Technology: The niche specialty of research, technology, and
psychology is currently emerging in the counseling center field. Counseling centers depend on accurate information -- and the field as a whole depends on accurate and timely research information to guide the development of solid practice and policy. Technology provides the glue that holds it all together. Some of my current activities in this area can be found here.
Other Interests: When I'm not in the office, you will be most
likely to find me playing with my kids, riding something with two wheels, hiking or camping, building or
fixing, and very likely sipping on a cup 'o joe. |
