I am the assistant director of, and a research associate in, The Methodology Center at the Pennsylvania State University. The Methodology Center is an interdisciplinary research center housed primarily within the College of Health and Human Development at the University Park campus. There is also significant involvment by scientists at the University of Michigan and the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.

As a center, we are devoted to the advancement and dissemination of statistical methodology related to research on the prevention and treatment of problem behaviors. The Methodology Center is an interdisciplinary center that comprises faculty, research associates, post-docs, and students from several academic disciplines, including human development, psychology, statistics, and public health. In collaboration with prevention and treatment scientists, we conduct cutting-edge methodological research focusing on: (1) identifying issues in statistics, research design, and measurement emerging in the prevention and treatment of problem behaviors, particularly drug abuse; (2) conducting original research on these issues; (3) applying the new methods we develop in empirical research; and (4) disseminating new methods to prevention and treatment scientists.

Our work is funded by the National Institutes of Health via a P50 center grant from the National Institute on Drug Abuse. We also receive funding from the National Science Foundation.
