Any Chapter member and/or full-time or part-time employee of a JC Chapter library may make a nomination for the Exceptional Service Award. The award is judged by a selection committee appointed by the Chair of the JC Chapter. All chapter members and/or full-time or part-time employees of JC Chapter libraries are eligible to serve on the Exceptional Service Award Selection Committee. The Committee shall consist of not fewer than three members and may include the previous year’s award winner.
Members of the Selection Committee cannot be nominated for this award during the period of their appointment. Past recipients are not eligible for the award for a period of three (3) years subsequent to their receipt of the award.
In addition to a completed nomination form, nominations must include a letter of support from the nominator stating the reasons for nomination, and at least two (2) letters of support from other Chapter members, members of PaLA, and/or from a community member. Nominations will be open during spring of each year.
The award shall include a framed citation accompanied by a letter of commendation stating the reasons for the award, and a stipend of $100 to be used in support of a project of the award winner’s choice. Normally, the award presentation will be made at the annual spring JC Chapter meeting and the winner will be recognized at the PaLA conference during the annual business meeting.
