There Have Been Better Weeks ...

I will keep it short and sweet this week folks.

Please refer to the entry from last week for my excuses.  They are all still applicable ... except for the snow one.  Just mix up the order to keep it fresh.  Actually now that I think about it ... the frequency of web-cam portraits from our favorite travelling bier-o-phile have dropped off significantly.

It is a relatively tame weekend for The Cup.

Wisconsin has the luxury of a bye-week.  Let's hope that allows the Badgers enough time to lick their wounds from last week's loss to the Hawkeyes.  It better be, as the Buckeye-Beating Boilers of Purdue are heading to Camp Randall on the 31st.

Before that happens though, Purdue must square up against Illinois.  It is a battle of middling teams, striving to burst the bubble of mediocrity.  What will happen ... anything could ... find out at Noon Eastern on The Deuce.

Sticking with the "no-longer-to-be-overlooked" theme [that's a theme, right?] Indiana travels to Northwestern tomorrow in the hopes of extending their winning streak.  I am happy for the Hoosier faithful but I have to admit that I am getting concerned about the potential spike in demand [and the resultant drop in supply] for tickets to the IOWA game in Bloomington next year.

Can anyone confirm if Penn State's blue band goes on road trips?  Mr. Mahoney ... I am talking to you.  The reason I ask is that I waved to a three bus caravan of collegiate musicians this morning with the belief that they were on their way to Ann Arbor.  If it turns out that they were just heading to Altoona I will be greatly disappointed.

Saving the best for last ... THE IOWA HAWKEYES will be putting their undefeated status and BCS Ranking [#6] on the line against Michigan State tomorrow.  Tune in at 7pm EST [BigTen Network] to find out if Kirk trots out the now famous first-half 'possum act.

It was probably a "Pep Band" going to the game. The Blue Band sends a small arrangement to the away games to play for the PSU section at the visitors stadium. The full band goes to two away games a year. One during the season, and then the bowl game. I think that if it is any further away than Ohio State, they'll fly to the game. The whole band and staff is somewhere north of 330 people, so it usually takes 7 or 8 buses and an equipment trailer to move the band by bus.

LETS GO STATE!

I just went to the blue band website: http://blueband.psu.edu/performances/

They are going to the Michigan game...I guess you saw half the band.

FOR THE GLORY!

@ MR. Mahoney ... thanks for sharing your 1st-hand perspective and nice job in Ann Arbor on saturday [please stand by your mailbox ... your royalty/consulting check should be arriving shortly]
