RE: The Official Constitution of The Graham-Cooper Cup of College Football Supremacy
Well folks, the results are in. A majority of the ballots were returned and the sentiments included were varied. Upon further review and reflection I have made the following decisions ...
1 - I should APOLOGIZE.
That was not really a ballot ... at least not in the traditional
sense. Blame it on the psychology
training. I came up with a hypothesis [
2 - I do not want to be branded a POOR SPORT. Not that I can't take it ... I have been called much worse. However, as a representative of The University of IOWA, the Hawkeye athletic teams and the fine student-athletes that comprise them I must carefully measure my decisions before they are executed. It is based upon the belief that my actions have a profound effect on the global Hawkeye community that I realize ...
3 - Football is a better game than DIRTY POOL. I think the group consensus is that it is unfair to "change the rules once the game has started". My argument is that it may be even more unfair to play a game with hazy, undefined rules. As such, I attempted to establish the aforementioned parameters for our contest.
Considering the input I have received and the statements above, I now propose that we put The Constitution [including the caveats below] to a second vote.
I.
The document will go into effect AFTER the current
season. The 2008 G-CC Winner will be
decided via the current standings.
II.
Beth Graham will be added to the G-CC voting body. Beth is a member of a G-CC founding nuclear
family and even though she graduated from
PLEASE cast your vote by commenting on this entry.
YES = I approve The Constitution, as amended above.
NO = I do NOT approve The Constitution, even after considering the thoughtful revisions and at the risk of being omitted from BLAKE's holiday card list.
Let's get this thing solidified, move on and begin to focus on The Bowl Season.

I vote NO... As i believe The Wisconsin Badgers are the best team in the big ten, unfortunatly their record does not show it. While the hawkeyes are a formidible team and they may have beaten the best GCC team, they are unfortunately not the best team in the Big ten competeing in the GCC and their record does show it.
The trophey itself says:
"the graham-Cooper Cup of college football Supremecy". In my opinion, penn state is the superior team this year round... With the sweep clause in place we would have to change the inscription to the graham cooper cup of college football Medeocrity".... iowa's record of 8 and 4 is just that, Mediocre.
Uhhhh ... yeah. Thanks for the info. I had no idea that the best team in the Big10 goes to the Champs Sports Bowl. Regarding your comment about the IOWA football team: there is no "may have". The Hawkeyes DID beat EVERY G-CC team this year. Finally, I am perplexed by your rejection of The Constitution for two reasons ...
ONE - It is as if you did not read the revisions above, the first of which effectively gives The Cup to PSU.
B - You agreed to the first version of it [which gave The Cup to IOWA] via the original ballot!
YES...I approve of the G-CC constitution as amended [12/18/08]. Your investment of time and energy in the G-CC as well as your interest in college football should not go unrewarded, but probably will.
By the way, the throbbing IOWA in the standings document caused a touch of motion sickness. I would like you to show me how to highlight the PSU season record [11 wins, 1 loss to Iowa] in blue & white.
Ok... Good points... But my answer remains no. The first ballot was handed my way via my wife with instructions to sign and send out. (Nothing about reading it) and since she had already signed, I figured she was agreeing to uphold the integrity and quality the cup symbolizes, and so I would do the same. I didn't fully understand what I had done until Dr. Mike pointed out the repercussions the amendment would cause.
I think maybe an amendment to the name would fit better for your idea
"The graham-Cooper Cup of Graham-Cooper cup big ten college football participants supremacy"
(Although this does not roll off the tongue as easily as the current Title... I am also sure we would need a bigger plaque for the bottom of the cup.)
You lucky dog! My wife never reads things for me.
YES - I am personnally floored by my voting powers, thus, I approve. That is all.
We're both yes votes, the view from the bottom is murky and this decision likely won't impact us in the near term.....
There is always hope (as in Danny)
:)
I dissapprove of my husband's bickering and I vote yes...as long as there are rules in place for next season that is the main thing....
I of course vote Yes. I have been involved in more conversations about this topic than I care to admit. It is looking like there are enough votes to end the discussion. Thank you all!
