My prediction is ...

The Purdue Boilermakers will NOT lose this weekend.

OK ... you guessed it.  They do not play this weekend.  Purdue will begin its season on 9/6 against Northern Colorado.  The squad from West Lafayette has [in my opinion] a respectable pre-conference schedule which includes Oregon and Notre Dame.

The Indiana Hoosiers should handle their opponent this weekend.  Though Western Kentucky wins the mascot battle ... go Hilltoppers!

The Badgers of Wisconsin face Akron to kick off the season.

Penn State also has a cream-puff team to beat in Coastal Carolina.  The Lions will have to get through Oregon State before reaching the BigTen schedule.

Ohio State [and by extension the non-GCC-eligible Amy] will go through the motions as they face Youngstown State on Saturday.  OSU will need to bring their A-game when they meet USC in week three.

Saving the best for last ... THE Iowa Hawkeyes [see - i can put a "the" in front of my school too] will be opening a can of hard-nosed, smash-mouth football on the Maine Black Bears.  Once again, the Hawks will have to face their in-state rival Iowa State in the coming weeks.

GOOD LUCK TO ALL

In case it was not clear ...

I am pretty excited that COLLEGE FOOTBALL is back.  It is really cool to be living in a Big10 football town.  I pass Beaver Stadium on my way to work.  This morning I witnessed the tents that comprise Paternoville.  It was a rainy morning in State College - but that did not stop me from rolling down the window and belting out a raucous "Go Hawkeyes!".  It was not really applicable to the contest at hand [Coastal Carolina] but always fun to yell.

We feared this day would come ...

There are Hawkeyes, Boilermakers, Hoosiers, Hawkeyes, Badgers, [did I say Hawkeyes yet ?], Nittany Lions and now ... there is a Buckeye in our midst.

I would like to introduce the family to Caldwell's significant other ... Amy.

You guessed it folks.  The young lady is an Ohio State alum.

Stop booing - that is poor sportsmanship ! [even if I do agree]

It begins again ...

Hello COLLEGE FOOTBALL fans !
Another season is upon us.  Let the family fun begin.
Sarah and I are adapting to being HAWKEYES in Happy Valley and are thrilled that the GCC will be much closer to us next year.  Of course our hope is that we will be making space for it on our bookshelf in January.  I think we can all [well ... almost all] agree that it would be nice if the Bahrs had to give it up for a season.
