I definitely spend more time socializing now than I
did in high school. It's so much easier to see your friends when they
live literaly five minutes away from you and some of them live just
right down the hall! My friends are really different people. One of my
best friends is a fencer and another is a political science major. Most
of my friends live on my hall. I live in a special living option called
Discover House. It was designed for freshman students who are undecided
in their major. I signed up for Discover House because I was undecided
until a month before fall classes started.
I actually started my transition into college in the
summer. I took the last summer session, and most of my best friends
that I have now I made during that summer. I took a buisiness seminar,
a business ethics class, and group speech. I thought that I might want
to go into buisiness as an actuary because I love math and I had never
taken a buisiness class before. By the end of the summer, I knew that I
belonged in music. I still practiced throughout the summer, but I
missed being part of a band and I knew that I wasn't going to end up as
happy in business as I would in music. So, I auditioned about two weeks
before fall classes started, was accepted into the program, and changed
every course in my schedule with an exception of my math class. I kept
my pretty strenuous math course because math still excites me and I
enjoy it for the most part.
