Sudoku Quilts (with colors, not numbers)

The little Sudoku quilt.

2009. Machine pieced. 12.5 inches square.
One-inch squares. No quilting -- just buttons.

The big Sudoku quilt.

2009. Machine pieced. Quilted by Kathie Hudak.
49 inches square.

I made this baby quilt for the granddaughter of a very dear friend.

Detail.

The mom is a mathematics teacher. I had a good time piecing all of the circles, triangles,
squares, rectangles, pentagons, hexagons, and octagons.

On the back of the quilt is a Hungry Animal Alphabet panel designed by Janet Wecker-Frisch.
The blotches of orange on the red fabric are silhouettes of animals.
A closer view of the alphabet panel.
