Quilts in the Garden Railway

When my husband began constructing our garden railway in 1995, my job was to do the landscaping.
However, before I put in many plants, I stitched several little quilts
to hang on a clothesline.

The quilts range in size from 2.5 inches square to 4 inches square.
They're all made from fabrics that were printed with quilt blocks.
All are hand-quilted.

After several years, there is some greenery in the garden railway.
I machine-pieced and hand-quilted a couple of
little Amish-style quilts to add to the collection.

More quilts outdoors.

The Pittsburgh Garden Railway Society built an outdoor garden railway
that was displayed at Phipps Conservatory during 2008.
My contribution was two quilts.

I made the quilts from that heavy fabric that's supposed to last in the sun.
When Phipps tore down the railway in late 2008, the quilts were still in good shape,
even though dirty.
