ANGEL. This is the on-line space that I will be using as the most important and direct means to communicate with students. It allows the division of the different courses in separate entries and includes useful functions for the everyday student in order to make their life as students easier.
Inside the entry corresponding to a specific course in ANGEL, there is the possibility to create various folders if the teacher decides to divide the class in several WORK-GROUPS in order to do their homework. These folders allow the students to receive the materials that the teacher may upload into the folders s/he chooses and also gives them the opportunity to upload their own materials.
Another option available in ANGEL is the CALENDAR, where students can schedule their appointments either for themselves or for anyone else to see them. This tool can also be used by the teacher for reminding the students of the date of meetings or when papers are due, as well as for announcing events that might enhance the students’ education (i.e. subtitled movies at the town theatre, concerts in the foreign language studied…).
Another tool that teachers and students can enjoy in ANGEL is the QUIZZES. Teachers can post quizzes for the students to complete and they also have the possibility to customize the quizzes by including pictures or deciding between different types of questions such as fill in the blank, matching, multiple choice and many others.
Inside ANGEL, there is also an E-MAIL service that can be used to connect the teacher and the students more immediately. It is especially useful for the teacher since s/he can also configure it according to the receiver of the message: one specific student, a group, the whole class…, which makes its use quicker and handier.
ADOBE CONNECT. This is an instrument for communicating live with other people. During communication, information can be transmitted by typing (chat-room), drawing on a virtual board, or if one has access to web-cam, speakers/headphones and a microphone, even talking as though in a face to face conversation.
The GRADEBOOK option in ANGEL allows the teacher to mark students in a very easy manner. Furthermore, it allows the students a quick access to their marks.
DROP-BOX. A tool stucents can use to submit their homework and tasks without giving them any specific format, just by copying a text on the blank space of the drop-box.
