NaNoWriMo

Hey, for those of you who don't know, November is National Novel Writing Month.

I know this is kind of late notice, but anyone who's always wanted to write a novel: this is a great experience! It's a lot of fun, even if it does kind of drain the life out of you (50,000 words in one month means 1,667 words a day, and that may not sound like much, but when you get behind, it adds up fast).

Anyway, that's why I'll be dead for the entire month. Anyone who cares to join me, it's not too late to check it out. One of my friends started a week into November one year and finished a week early, so it can be done!

All I can say is thank God for the internet, or else craziness like this would not be possible. That counts as a link to technology, right? Oh! Automated word counting. That helps too ^^.

I wish I had seen this sooner, because obviously it is November, but I have had a plot for my "Fantasy Work of Art" (aka my brain child) mulling in my head for over 3 or 4 years now. The only thing keeping me from writing it is the time, the perfection required to finish it satisfactorily to me, and my inability to illustrate the characters (mentioned in another comment to you today)... i went to the website associated with this contest. I think they're right - if I just sit down and plow through it with a deadline, it will force me to get it out, and worry about the mistakes later. Maybe next year i'll do it. Thank you for posting this, I've never heard of it before.

P.S. if this contest gets me to right this book, several friends of mine will be praising the ground you walk on for getting me up off of my a@!*...
