Aaron M. Garvey

Doctoral Candidate of Marketing
Smeal College of Business, Pennsylvania State University

Aaron is a PhD candidate of marketing in his fourth year at the Smeal College of Business at the Pennsylvania State University. Aaron's research examines consumer motivation and goal pursuit. In particular, he is interested in better understanding consumer perceptions, attitudes, and decision making processes in situations of goal conflict. One of Aaron's papers has been invited for a second round review at the Journal of Marketing Research. Another of his papers won the "Best Working Paper Award" at the 2010 Society for Consumer Psychology conference.

Aaron began his PhD studies after spending five years in marketing and management positions in the Fortune 500. Prior to his work experience, Aaron attended the University of Kentucky as a National Merit Scholar, where he received a BA in Geography with a minor in Computer Science and a Master of Business Administration.
