Second Semester

| No Comments | No TrackBacks

Hey everyone,

Sorry I haven't been able to post anything in a while, it's been pretty crazy.  Let's just say that everything that you have heard about the course load for engineering is true.  The second semester is pretty much the make or break period for engineers at Penn State and I can tell you that they like to weed many people out.  Last semester I looked to weekends as a time to relax and not worry about school where as now I look forward to the weekend just to get caught up on work.  Work is seemingly endless and it tests your resolve of how much you want to be an engineer every day so if I could offer any advice to someone coming into college, I would tell them not choose engineer as his or her major unless they are completely dedicated to studying.  All that being said, it's still worth all the work now for the benefits of a great, well-paying career later in life.  This week I have my first calculus II and physics tests so it should be interesting to see how everything turns out.

Talk to you all later,

End of Winter Break... Already

| No Comments | No TrackBacks

Hey everyone,

It seems like just a day ago I was here in my room packing all of my things preparing to go home for a much needed break.  Everything I was told by friends about the stress of finals week proved to be true.  My tests were truly the hardest exams that I've ever had in my life.  After completing my last exam, all that I wanted to do was just go home and relax and after looking at the calendar I was pleased to see that I would have a seemingly eternity (3 weeks) to do just that.  That's what I thought at least.  In actuality, winter break flew by faster than the blink of an eye spending time with family and friends.  Even though it was hard to leave home again, it's kind of an exciting challenge to completely start over again with all new classes. Tomorrow is going to be a big day, it is the start of the new semester and I have quite literally a big course load, six classes in all.  I'll get back to you all and let you know just how everything goes.

One More Week to Go

Hey everyone,

Sorry I haven't been able to post anything in a while but last week was crazy and then my internet got screwed up for a couple days.  Everything's been pretty good.  I'm pretty excited because we got pretty much our first real snowfall over the past couple days.  There's about probably an inch, inch and a half on the ground right now and it's gotten me so excited for ski season coming up.  I'm actually taking a skiing class next semester if you can believe that, it's probably the single best class ever offered.  A funny thing happened last week.  My rough draft was due on Friday for my final English paper, and of course I procrastinated, so I ended up staying up all night to write it.  I got to English Friday morning only to discover that the class got cancelled because my professor was sick.  I was not in the best mood, to say the least, after discovering this news.  This week has been pretty good so far.  I had my last economics class ever last night so that was kind of weird.  This semester seems like it just flew by.  There's just a half a week and then finals week left.  I have a feeling finals week is going to be real rough, we covered the material that would be on the economics final in last night's class and all I have to say as that professors mean it when they say that the final will be comprehensive.

Back From Break

Hey everyone,

We just got back from break this week here.  It was pretty nice and relaxing before the last push in all my classes.  Tomorrow I actually have a chemistry test so I've been working studying for that to maintain my A in there.  We're starting to be getting into some challenging material in all my classes lately, chemistry included.  The chemistry test on Friday is electron configurations, quantum numbers, and Hess's Law equations.  It's crazy, I have had chemistry twice in high school, once for regular and then A.P. but I never quite understood electron configurations until now.  In calculus, we have been doing integration by u-substitution, which I would never say is fun.  I found it challenging last year in A.P. Calculus and, what do you know, it's pretty hard this time around too.  Well I'm going to get back to work now. I'll keep you all updated on how things go.

Hey everyone,

I just wanted to give you all an update about this week. It's been crazy so far.  On Monday, I had an economics exam, on Thursday I have a psychology exam, and I have an 8 page paper due on Friday.  Needless to say, it has been a stressful week.  I am really looking forward to relaxing next week about now.  Talk to you later.

One More Week To Go

Hey everyone,

This weekend's been pretty quite here around campus.  I was actually pretty surprised with next week being Thanksgiving Break and all.  It was pretty nice though cause I got to get some studying done for all my tests this week.  I swear my professors thought this week was finals week because I have an exam in like every class.  The break is going to feel real nice after this week.  I'll keep you all updated on everything throughout the week.

A Nice Week

Hey everyone,

This past week has been pretty good so far.  Earlier this week, we got a nice reprieve from the cold whether earlier this week when it actually climbed back into the sixties.  Too bad that was only a short-lived occurrence though, as it is now back to normal.  I can now say that I am finally fully adjusted to college I have been finding it easy lately to efficiently accomplish assignments when they've been assigned and this week, I even found the time to make it to the gym, which I have unfortunately become too busy to attend as of late.  Although, with next week being the last week before a decently large break, I am sure the free time that I am finding myself have this week will soon disappear.

November Already

Hey everyone,

I just got out of chem. Lab a little while ago a figured a catch up on everything with you all.  It seems like with the coming of November, it has dropped like 10 degrees here.  I wouldn't be surprised if we had a couple inches of snow on the ground before Thanksgiving.  All my classes are going pretty good lately, now it seems like the professors are starting to gear up more and more for finals since they are not too far in the distance.  I can't believe how fast this semester is actually going.  It seems like yesterday I was just unloading my stuff and getting settled into my dorm and now snows about to fly.  I am looking forward to Thanksgiving and the well-needed week break that accompanies it.

Home Again

Hey everyone,

This past week has been pretty good.  I actually had the opportunity to go home last weekend so that was a great time.  It was interesting to me what I took for granted before college, tings such as the comfort of my own bed.  It's weird how comfortable that bed gets after a month of being away from home.  It was also really nice to see all my friends from high school.  Last weekend gave us a chance to all hang out and it felt a little like high school again.  Once I got back up here I had to hit the ground running though since I had 3 tests this past week.  It always seem like there's a test in every class at the same time in college.

Updates On This Week

Hey everyone,

This week has been going pretty good so far.  It's actually warmed up enough to where it hasn't snowed at all, which is always good in the middle of October.  The one big event that I've had this week is an economics test on Monday night.  After taking that test, I have some advice for new students; try not to take night classes if you can.  For me at least, it's so much harder to keep paying attention at like eight o'clock at night.  I'll keep you all updated on what's going on the rest of the week.

Talk to you later,
