Nowhere to go but up...

Everyone hits a rock bottom at some point in their life, and if you're like me, you've hit it more than once. Everyone's rock bottom is different. I want to make this entry as short and simple as possible without much detail but enough so you can understand my point and see where I'm coming from. I've done some messed up things to people, but people have done a lot of messed up things to me. I've taken every single negative situation in my life and turned it into something positive, and I think that all of you should do the same. I've learned so much from people, especially negative people.

One thing that I want to preach is do not let people make you cold. I am a hypocrite for even saying that because I have let people alter my optimism at some point, but you cannot let that happen. People are going to try to bring you down all throughout your life, but every time that happens it should make you stronger not weaker. It's safe to say that the only person who can bring me down now is myself. No one else can ever make me feel worse than I have in the past. It's all a learning experience, but the most important thing is to actually learn from it and not make the same mistakes. You have to keep going up...

This is an inspiring post Carissa. There's nothing worse than letting other people bring you down. That's why it is essential that you surround yourself with positive people. We've all done some bad things to people, and vice versa, but what's important is that we learn from our mistakes as we get older. Although you may get knocked down from time to time, it's not the end of the world. Younger people have to realize this the most. When bad things happen to young people, they often believe that their "lives" are over, not realizing that they have a full life ahead of them with so much to learn. Going through tough experiences with different people will only make you more equip to handle situations better down the road. You're right, there's no way to go but up and look towards the future. You can't control what happened previously.

"Don't dwell on what went wrong. Instead, focus on what to do next. Spend your energies on moving forward toward finding the answer."

Carissa, I completely agree! I get made fun of ALL of the time because I "smile too much" and am "happy when I shouldn't be." What's the point of living if you live it miserably? Smiling is probably my favorite thing to do, and seeing people smile is even better. It is so easy to get into slumps and feel like you've "hit rock bottom" but when you think of all the greatness and the potential you have while thinking optimistically, it is just as easy to get out of a slump. The more people in the world that think and act like you, the better! It's like Bob Marley says, "Don't worry about a thing, cause every little thing gonna be alright."

Carissa, your point of not letting people make you cold really hit home with me. Optimism is a trait that is getting harder and harder to find in people, however currently I feel like it should be the only way to live. I find it truely heartbreaking when someone becomes a negative person, and they've consciously made that decision based on the apparent coldness of the world and other peoples actions. We must take it upon ourselves to look within, and not let other effect our emotions too gravely.
