Introductions

Hey guys, my name is Sam and I am a junior studying Supply Chain Management. I am taking this course because I need one more science credit and I am never going to take Chemistry or Biology again. Having said that, this class looks as though it will be very interesting. I am from the DC area, and am an avid sports fan. I can not wait for MLB playoffs to start and have high expectations for the Washington Nationals. I also am a diehard Redskins fan and expect RG3 to have a huge season.

The syllabus has a number of interesting topics ranging from, the creation of our universe to cancer and death. While these topics should be interesting, I look forward to expanding my critical thinking skills. Science offers many ways to collect and analyze information and I hope to be able to apply it in new ways after this course.

If you see me in class feel free to say high and introduce yourself. I'd love to talk sports or just about anything else.

I think you're right about the syllabus having a lot of great topics! It's interesting that you have the same motivation for taking this course that I do, you're a business major looking to expand critical thinking skills. I found this article from the Harvard Business Review that I found really interesting connecting the importance of critical thinking to business, http://blogs.hbr.org/baldoni/2010/01/how_leaders_should_think_criti.html

I too enjoy sports, but not the teams you like. We should watch a game together sometime. I think I've actually met you before but I'm not sure. Something tells me you'd enjoy this.
