Hey everyone! My name is Carolyn Hamm, and I'm a sophomore. I decided to take this course for a couple of reasons. My major (Public Relations) requires that I take at least one science class, but i've learned from prior experience that I'm just not a chemistry or physics kind of girl. During course registration last year, I was hesitant to sign up for anything starting with the letters SC until my advisor explained this class to me as "a science class for non-sciencey people". I knew right then that it was perfect.

I can't say I hate all science because that would be a lie. In high school, I took Anatomy and Physiology and Biology, and actually loved both. However, I understand that these courses are a lot more challenging on a college level. Besides trying to avoid having to take any unnecessarily hard science classes, I found that I had academic passions elsewhere. I really love writing and organizing events which inspired me to declare a PR major instead of a science major.

Some interesting facts about me are that I'm from Westport, Connecticut! I'm a sister of Phi Mu sorority, a Homecoming PR Captain, and a College of Communications Peer Mentor. This past summer I worked at J.Crew and vacationed in Martha's Vineyard, Block Island, Cape Cod, and Maine. I come from a HUGE Penn State family, so deciding to come to PSU was a no-brainer. My best piece of advice to freshman would be to get involved on campus and enjoy every minute you have of being a Penn Stater!

Hey Carolyn, I think we are also in AEE 201 together! I remembered you explaining how no one has the name Carolyn, but one of my best friend's name is Carolyn. Just thought that was funny!
