Teaching with ANGEL

At Penn State, we are lucky to have a course management system where instructors can easily communicate and share information with students. Below is a screen-shot of my home page when I sign onto ANGEL.

ANGEL allows users to view information for different classes by organizing each user's classes into different folders. Once in the class folder, users have access to course information, such as the syllabus, powerpoints, homework activities and whatever other resources instructors provide for them. I provide a "Powerpoints from class" folder, where I post each day's powerpoints. Below is a screenshot of this folder.

Also within the class folder, ANGEL allows users to easily communicate with fellow classmates and with their instructor. I often use this feature to email my students so that my email messages are organized and seperated by class. Below is an example of what the "compose" window of a message looks like.

In my Spanish classes, students complete their homework assignments online in ANGEL. They take electronic quizes (usually multiple choice or fill in the blank), and ANGEL automatically synchs their grades into an electronic gradebook. This gradebook can then easily be "exported" to an excel file, which makes calculating students' final semester grades a breeze. Below are screenshots of a grammar quiz and of one of my electronic gradebooks.
