            Conservation Biologist - The Nature Conservancy, Fort Hood, Texas 1999 - 2002

                        Designed and conducted research on survival, productivity, habitat requirements, and population trends of federally endangered golden-cheeked warblers. Supervised 2 permanent field biologists, and hired, trained, and supervised 10 seasonal field biologists per year.

 

            Visiting Scholar - Ohio State University, Hawaiian Islands NWR 1997- 1999, 2005

                        Collaborated on research on the genetic and social mating systems, population genetics, and population dynamics of great frigatebirds in the Northwestern Hawaiian Islands.

 

            Masters Student - University of Missouri 1993 - 1996

                        Conducted graduate thesis research on post-fledging survival, habitat use, and pre-migration movements of juvenile migratory landbirds using radio telemetry. Trained and supervised 2 research assistants.

 

            U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Volunteer - Hawaiian Islands NWR 1996

                        Monitored the reproductive success of 10 seabird species at a remote field station in the Northwestern Hawaiian Islands; assisted in operation and maintenance of refuge facilities.

                        Assisted in study of brown-headed cowbird nestling behavior and its effects on neotropical migrant hosts.

 

            Research Assistant - La Amistad Biosphere Reserve, Costa Rica 1993

                        Assisted in study of habitat use of Kentucky warblers in rainforest habitat in Costa Rica.

 

            Research Assistant - Guanica Commonwealth Forest, Puerto Rico 1992, 1994

                        Mist-netted and banded neotropical migrant and resident landbirds in dry forest habitat in Puerto Rico as part of a long-term project on avian community structure.

                        Assisted in research on reproductive success and site fidelity of ovenbirds in contiguous and fragmented forest habitats.
