How to Create a Link to a Document

When you want to allow readers to download your resume from your blog, or want to lead your readers to a pdf of your instruction set, you'll need to know how to create a smooth link to this resource.

A "smooth link" is one that creates a hyperlink out of a meaningful segment of text in a sentence (or that uses a title to link). A smooth link avoids phrases like, "click here" for your hyperlink.

For instance, you might link to your online resume and your traditional resume by creating links from the following bolded words:

"To learn more about my education, experience, honors, and activities, you can choose to download my traditional resume (in pdf format) or visit my online resume and portfolio."

Instructions
1. Upload the document you'd like to link to by going to CREATE, UPLOAD FILE.
2. Browse for the file and highlight it, then click UPLOAD.
3. Uncheck the box marked "Create a new entry," then click FINISH.
4. Go to MANAGE, ASSETS, then click on the asset you would like to embed.
5. Near the bottom right, you will see "Embed Asset"--click on it, then copy the URL that appears in the box.
6. Return to the page where you would like to create a link to this asset.
7. If you haven't yet done so, create the text that will allow you to use a "smooth link."
8. Highlight the words of your "smooth link," then click on the chain link icon in the toolbar, and insert the URL to your document.
9. Save your page, and then view the page to test out the link.
