ENGL 202C: Technical Writing

Welcome to our Course Website

This course is similar to most other sections of ENGL 202C offered at Penn State, with one major difference: This particular section of 202C will use the Blogs @ Penn State platform to allow each student to publish an online portfolio and to blog about issues related to technical writing. The project will require flexibility but will yield an added layer of learning.

As you build your individual blog/website, you can seek help from me, or you can get support through blogs@psu.edu.

This course design is the result of a pilot program that ran in the Spring of 2009. This pilot program was jointly sponsored by the English Department's Composition Office and Information Technology Systems' (ITS) Educational Technology Services division.

You will notice that my development of this course website began in the spring of 2009 but continues to be updated each semester that I have taught ENGL 202C. I will continue to update it throughout the semester, and so it is an evolving entity.

In addition to information about me (my office hours and location, and my experience as a writer and writing instructor), you will find on this website:

  • instructions, models, and deadlines for major assignments
  • links to classmates' blogs and prompts for each blog entry assigned
  • links to other relevant and helpful websites
  • blog entries from me that offer my thoughts about issues we're discussing in class and grappling with in assignments __________________________________________________________________________

Check back often, as it's always changing, and feel free to comment on blog entries as a way to engage with course material, me, and your classmates.

I'm excited to learn alongside all of you this semester!
