GEOBOTS is a collaborative project that brings geoscience and enegineering students together to solve simulated problems in environmental data collection. Geoscience students act as project managers. They determine the nature of theproblem, the data needed, and are responsible for interpretaion of the data collected. Engineering students design and build robotic sensors capable of collecting data without direct human guidance. Robots are field tested, collecting data in a simulated environment. For example in the Spring 97 Semster, students worked to collect magnetic, thermal and color data whihc might be used produce geologic and geophysical maps of a region.
